LA MIRADA --- The Biola baseball team earned PacWest Team of the Week after sweeping the Vanguard Lions this past weekend. 

Fighting for a playoff spot, the Eagles stepped up offensively against the Lions. As a team, they hit for a .348 average with 47 hits, 29 RBIs, 37 total runs and launched six home runs. 

In game one, Biola won 7-3. Six runs on seven hits fueled the offense, backed by a record-breaking home run by James Whitman. In game two, Gabe Magallan kept Vanguard off the board, tossing a complete game shutout. 

In games three and four, the Eagles scored 22 runs across two games, including a 15-1 victory in game four. 32 hits fueled the offense, combining for eight extra base hits, four being home runs. Kyle Rogers and Jonny Tewinkle both hit two-run homers in game three. Whitman and Jacob Talbott logged homers in game four.

They will host their final home doubleheader against No. 4 Point Loma on Friday, May 1 with first pitch set for 12 p.m.
