SACRAMENTO, Calif.---The Biola softball team earned a 5–4 victory over Jessup with a go-ahead run in the seventh inning.
With the game tied at 4–4, Alexa Medley Sheard worked a leadoff walk and advanced to third after a single from Jackie Ibarra and a passed ball. Ariana Banos then delivered the decisive play, grounding out to bring Sheard home for what proved to be the game-winning run.
Jessup threatened earlier in the sixth inning, scoring two runs to erase Biola's lead and tie the game. With runners on base, DJ Symons entered in relief and shut the door, recording the final out of the inning and later closing out the game in the seventh to earn the win.
Biola built its early lead in the second inning with a three-run frame. Leilani Salgado highlighted the inning with a two-RBI double, while Lizzie Byer later drove in another run to give the Eagles a 3–1 advantage.
The Eagles added to their lead in the fourth inning. After Kennadie Tsue tripled, Salgado and Byer combined again to bring her home and extend the lead to 4–1.
Jessup chipped away with a run in the fourth before tying the game in the sixth, setting up the late-game heroics for Biola.
In the circle, Kayla Bousquette started the game and pitched into the sixth inning, allowing four runs (three earned) while striking out four. Symons finished the final 1.1 innings without allowing a run, securing the win and improving her record to 11–11.
Biola totaled nine hits in the game. Salgado led the way with two hits and two RBIs, while Tsue added two hits and scored twice.
With the win, Biola improved to 27–15 on the season and 20–4 in PacWest play.
