Decisive Doubles

Doubles ended up being decisive for Biola in their 4-3 win over Menlo.

Box Score FRESNO, Calif.---The Biola men's tennis team edged Menlo College 4-3 at the Haak Tennis Complex.

The Eagles won a hard-fought doubles point which proved to be the difference maker. Alejandro Flores Monteverde and Pol Masafret Hernandez took down their opponents 6-0 on the first court. Biola fell 6–3 on court two but bounced back with a win on court three. Mateo Rivas and Keyon Gahvarehchi outlasted their opponents 7-5 on the third court to clinch the doubles victory.

The Eagles and Oaks split singles. Biola earned singles wins on first, fourth and fifth courts. Flores Monteverde defeated his opponent in three sets. He won the first set 6-4, lost the second 5-7 and won the third 6-0.

Thiago Canessa and Rivas defeated their opponents in two sets. Canessa recorded a 6-1, 6-2 victory on the fourth court and Rivas won 6-2, 6-4 on the fifth court. 

Gahvarehchi lost his match on the third court in three sets. He lost his first set 5-7 and came back to win the second 6-2. The Sophomore ended up losing his third set 3-6.

Biola plays next on Saturday, March 28 at 2:30 p.m. against Westmont College.
