Winning it in the Seventh

The Biola Eagles came back from behind to defeat Cal Poly Humboldt.

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif.---The Biola softball team came back from behind to defeat Cal Poly Humboldt 3-2 at the NCAA D2 West Coast Challenge.

The Eagles trailed the Jacks by two runs after the top of the first inning but narrowed the gap to one run by the end of the inning. Biola had bases loaded in the first inning thanks to hits by Jackie Ibarra, Kendall Nakano and Lizzie Byer. Madeline Granados scored Biola's first run after she got hit by a pitch.

After a scoreless second and third inning, Biola tied the game up in the fourth. Madison Duncan had a one-out double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Duncan ended up scoring on an error by the third baseman.

Two more scoreless innings passed and then the Eagles would win it in the bottom of the seventh. Ibarra singled to lead off the inning. Medley followed with another single, advancing Ibarra into scoring position. Nakano then delivered the game-winning single that scored Ibarra from second. 

Granados started the game for BU in the circle and threw the first 1.1 innings. She allowed four hits and two runs to score. DJ Symons came in relief in the second inning and finished the game. She allowed three hits and struck out six.
