Eagles Hang Tough Against APU

Biola battles throughout but falls 15-10 in Tempe

February 15, 2026

Box Score TEMPE, Ariz. --- The Biola women's water polo team finished its two-day trip to Tempe against the Azusa Pacific Cougars. The Eagles kept it close but ultimately fell to the Cougars, 15-10.

Gwendolyn Pidd put Biola on the board after converting a penalty shot only a minute and a half into the game. After giving up consecutive goals, Annabella Rapp brought BU back to within one. After one period, the Eagles trailed 4-2.

Sofia Lazzarini Orlandi and Myah Ibarra continued to keep Biola within striking distance after conceding the first goal to the Cougars in the second frame. Rapp tacked on a power-play goal before the end of the half. Bu trailed 8-5 at halftime.

The Eagles were unable to keep up with the consistent Cougar attack in the second half. Ava LoBue scored two goals on consecutive possessions, bringing BU to within three. Ibarra logged a 6-on-5 goal, but Biola trailed by four into the fourth.

Despite quality defense, the Eagles found the back of the net just twice in the final period. Destiny Moreno and Lazzarini Orlandi each scored once, but it wouldn't be enough. Biola fell to APU, 15-10.

The Eagles move to 1-11 overall and will set their sights on WWPA conference play against CUI on Feb. 20 at 7 p.m.
