RIVERSIDE, Calif. — In a challenging road outing on Satuday at the Lancer Invitational, Biola Women's Water Polo fell 14–4 to No. 23 California Baptist. It was a match that tested the Eagles against one of the region's premier programs and long-time rivals.

Despite the score, Biola competed in every quarter and gained valuable experience against quality competition as it continues to work through the most challenging segment of its schedule.

The Lancers controlled much of the scoring, but Biola's offense appeared in bursts, with Sofia Lazzarini Orlandi, Mia Mulhall, and Gwendolyn Pidd finding the back of the net. Pidd showed her scoring touch with two goals on the afternoon to highlight the Eagles' attack. The sophomore continues to stand out for this lineup.

In the cage, freshman goalkeeper Fernanda Luna did all she could to deal with a heavy-shooting Lancers' squad. CBU controlled possessions and managed to get off 38 shots total, outpacing Biola's effort by 12 shots. Luna finished with nine saves while playing the entire game between the pipes for BU.

Biola now shifts its focus forward, as the Eagles look to rebound and regroup. The next chance to do so comes on Saturday, February 7, when Biola celebrates the legacy of its water polo program with an alumni match. Then the team heads Arizona State for another premier tournament and continued early-season growth.
