Eagles Do It Again

Biola run-ruled Western Oregon 10-2 in six innings.

IRVINE, Calif.---The Biola softball team won their second-straight  game of the Concordia Kickoff Classic, defeating Western Oregon 10-2 in six innings.

The Eagles run-ruled a team for the second time today.  Earlier in the day, Biola mercied San Francisco State in five innings with the same score 10-2.

Biola made a statement in the first inning, scoring four runs against the Wolves from three hits and one error. Kendall Nakano, Ariana Banos and Mikala Huskey recorded hits. Banos scored BU's first two runs from a deep left field double. Lizzie Byers scored the next run with a sacrifice fly. Biola's final run of the inning was scored when Kennadie Tsue got into a pickle between first and second and Huskey ran home.

Biola stretched their lead to 5-0 with another run in the second. Western Oregon responded in the next inning with two runs which left Biola with a three-run lead.

The Eagles responded in the fourth with some insurance runs. Biola pulled together four runs from three hits and one error. Alexa Medley Sheard, Kendall Nakano and Banos had singles. Nakano knocked in BU's first run of the inning, Banos scored the next two and Huskey scored the final from a grounder to the right side.

Biola led 9-2 heading into the sixth and would end the game early when Cami Lara scored off a misplayed ball by the third baseman.

Kayla Bousquette threw the complete game, only allowing the Wolves four hits and two runs to score. The Senior also tallied nine K's in what was a great season-opening outing.

Biola improves to 2-0 in the season and have two more games to play tomorrow in the Concordia Kickoff Classic.
