Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Clean Sweep

A clean sheet by Autum Monty and the Eagles leads to a 2-0 sweep through their Northern California road trip.

ARCATA, Calif. — Biola Women's Soccer capped off a perfect Northern California road trip with a gritty 1–0 win over Cal Poly Humboldt on Thursday afternoon at College Creek Field.

The match's decisive moment came early, as junior midfielder Briley Phelps put Biola on the board in the 11th minute. Phelps buried her first goal of the season after a well-placed assist from Marije Rechin, giving the Eagles that 1–0 advantage.

From there, it was the Eagles' defensive organization and the steady play of goalkeeper Autum Monty that secured the result. Monty turned away five shots, including a series of dangerous attempts in the second half, as the Lumberjacks pressed for an equalizer.

Cal Poly Humboldt finished with a 16–12 edge in shots and a 6–2 advantage in corner kicks, but Biola's back line—anchored by Rechin, Taylin Laws, and Riley Brumfield—absorbed the pressure and kept the clean sheet intact.

The Eagles nearly doubled their lead in the 62nd minute when forward Peyton Nelson rattled a shot off the woodwork, but the single goal stood as enough on the afternoon. Phelps and Nelson combined for six of Biola's 12 total shots, consistently challenging the Humboldt defense.

A second consecutive one-goal victory for Biola turns Croft's team to a 2-1 overall mark early in non-conference play. Biola is the only team in the PacWest Conference with two victories at this point in the season.

A road-heavy preseason continues for the Eagles as they scurry back to the south land for a Saturday matinee at CSU San Bernardino (1-2).
