Fast on a Friday at APU Last Chance Meet

The Eagles got to work at the APU Last Chance Meet, grabbing season-bests around the track.

AZUSA, Calif. --- The final meet of the season for the BU track and field squad hit its stride on Friday afternoon. Biola set multiple new season-best times with the year about to wrap.

The day kicked off with the women's 100 hurdles and a stellar showing from Hannah Hanson. The sophomore made the finals on Saturday with a seventh place prelim finish at 14.34.

Another short distance event featured a trio of Eagles in the preliminary races. Donovan Tommy, Tyler Poltl and Angelo Legaspe took on the 100 dash through eight heats. All three notched season-best performances, as Poltl went for 10.83 and Legaspe finished at 11.66. Tommy made the semifinals later in the day on Friday with a time of 10.59. He went on to finish in 12th place in the semis, improving on his season-best mark at 10.57.

Over at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, another trio competed for the Eagles in throws. Faith Winningham took on the hammer throw and offered her best throw on her first attempt. She notched a mark of 44.52m for 10th place in flight two. Elias Voris competed in the javelin throw, also coming in 10th place with a mark of 50.68m on his second attempt.

Joley Sproul was the lone Eagle to finish out the heptathlon on Friday. She placed seventh with a score of 4765. The 100 hurdles featured her best score in an individual event, as she placed eighth at 14.93. She also stepped up in the 200 dash with a personal-best mark of 26.36, while also making a huge leap in the javelin, nearly improving by three meters on her previous best by landing a throw of 31.62m on Friday.

Josh Klausmeier took on the 10,000 and landed in 10th place in the first heat. The freshman logged a time of 32:38.68. On the women's side, Lynette Ruiz came in with a time of 37:11.93, which was good for seventh place.

The Eagles will be back in action at the APU Last Chance Meet on Saturday, beginning with field events at 11:00 am.
