Canessa Snags Singles Win Over #17 CUI

Thiago Canessa put the Biola men’s tennis team on the scoreboard in their 6-1 loss to nationally-ranked No. 17 Concordia University Irvine.

LA MIRADA---Thiago Canessa put the Biola men's tennis team on the scoreboard in their 6-1 loss to nationally-ranked No. 17 Concordia University Irvine. 

Canessa put BU on the board with his 6-4, 6-4 victory over CUI's Max Renz on the fourth court. The Sophomore's triumph improved his overall singles record to 11-4.

Alejandro Flores Monteverde put up a good fight on the first court. The Sophomore lost 6-4, 5-7, 8-10 in what was a very competitive duel.

Biola lost the doubles point but was leading 5-4 on the first court when the point was clinched. Flores Monteverde and Jules Zanarelli led nationally-ranked No. 12 doubles pair Felix Veyhle and Max Mueller.

Biola will regroup and play again tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. against Fresno Pacific at the Biola Tennis Center.
