Series Secured

The Biola softball team secured their series sweep over Hawaii Pacific with their 7-1 victory today at Sand Island Rec.

HONOLULU, Hawaii---The Biola softball team secured their series sweep over Hawaii Pacific with their 7-1 victory today at Sand Island Rec.

"It's always nice to get a sweep as it's hard to play any team three times and win," stated head coach Kristin Halte. "It's also nice to win on the road as it makes the trip especially in Hawaii that much sweeter."

Jackie Ibarra and Maddie Granados were offensive standouts, Ibarra went 3-for-5 and Granados batted 3-for-4 against the Sharks.

When asked about her great day at the plate Ibarra shared, "I felt like I was seeing the ball really well. My plan at the plate was to get on base and do anything I can to help the team win."

Granados stated, "I just focused on the little things and having fun."

Biola scored their runs in the first, third, fifth and seventh innings. The Eagles cashed in solo runs in the first, third and fifth innings. By the fifth inning, BU built up a 3-1 lead that they would extend to 7-1 in the seventh inning.

The Eagles totalled 11 hits against HPU. Medley, Kendall Nakano, Bridgette Trujillo, Mikala Huskey and Cami Lara all recorded a hit in their win.

Biola's runs were scored by Ibarra, Ariana Banos, Nakano, Kennadie Tsue, Lara, Granados and Leilani Salgado.

DJ Symons threw the complete game. The Junior only allowed HPU six hits and one run to score. She also threw two 1-2-3 innings and struck out four.
