Biola Pushes Through Final Day of Conference Championships

The Eagles competed in 20 events, scored points in 16, had six podium finishes and won PacWest titles in the 5000m run and decathlon.

FRESNO, Calif.---The Biola track & field teams pushed through the final day of the 2025 PacWest Championships. The Eagles competed in 20 events, scored points in 16, had six podium finishes and won PacWest titles in the 5000m run and decathlon. 

Bethany Mapes was victorious in the women's 5000, winning a tight race against ART U's Grace Southern. Mapes beat her opponent by a little over a second, crossing the line first with a time of 17:24.35.

Jack Ferrence powered through to the finish of the decathlon, claiming the PacWest title in the event with a personal best of 6076 points. Ferrence won four of the 10 events and placed top three in all but two. On Saturday he completed the 110 hurdles, discus, pole vault and javelin. He won the discus with a personal best throw of 36.74, placed third in the 110 hurdles with a time of 17.28, third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.70m and eighth in the 1500m run with a time of 5:29.28.

Ebose Omofoma was the only Eagle to record two All-PacWest finishes at the conference championships. The Freshman finished third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.06 and third in the triple jump with a mark of 11.14m.

Maggie Williams was All-PacWest and third in the women's 800 with her time of 2:10.48.  A.J. Antonio was also All-PacWest and third in the men's high jump with his mark of 1.97m.

Biola's women finished the PacWest Championships fourth of 10 teams with 103 points. Azusa Pacific won the championships with 209 points, FPU finished second with 143 points and CUI claimed third with 142 points.

Omofoma collected points for Biola's women in four events. Hannah Hanson recorded points for the Eagles in three and Williams, Mapes and Joley Sproul earned points for BU in two events.

BU's men placed fifth of nine teams at the PacWest Championships with 98 points. FPU won with 231 points, APU finished second with 144 points, CUI claimed third with 126 points and ART U took fourth with 101 points.

Matthew Kaloustian collected points for his team in three events. Aidan Tomasini, Donovan Tommy and Tyler Poltl tallied points for the Eagles in two events.

Next up for the Biola track & field teams is the Occidental Invitational on Saturday, May 3rd at the Bill Henry Track in Los Angeles, California.
