PacWest Champions!

Champions were crowned on Monday night, as the Eagles clinched the PacWest Regular Season Title with a clean sweep of the Oaks.

LA MIRADA---Champions were crowned on Monday night, as the Eagles clinched the PacWest Regular Season Title with a clean sweep of the Oaks.

The Biola softball team won the PacWest Conference for the first time in program history and clinched their position as the No. 1 seed at the conference Championships.

"I'm so humbled to lead this very talented team," stated head coach Kristin Halte. "We knew from the start that we had the team to do it.  I'm incredibly proud that they believed they could do it."

Halte continued, "It's a long, grueling season. It's not easy to win a series and I'm proud of their resilience."

Biola began the day with a 3-1 win over Menlo. BU scored solo runs in the first, third and fifth innings. Makayla Jordan batted in all three runs. Jordan went 2-for-2 in the batter's box and scored the Eagles third run from a sacrifice fly.

Alexa Medley and Kendall Nakano went 2-for-3. Raquel Reyes also had a good day at the plate, batting .500.

DJ Symons threw the complete game, only allowing four hits and one run to score. Symons' record improved to 17-3 overall in the circle. She also tossed six strikeouts.

The Eagles ended the day with 5-0 shutout over the Oaks. Raquel Reyes kept Menlo on their toes, only allowing them six scattered hits. The Graduate Student tossed three 1-2-3 innings and seven strikeouts.

Ariana Banos capitalized on a pinch hitting opportunity in the fifth inning. Banos put BU ahead 2-0 with a homer to left center - the first of her collegiate career.

Biola added some insurance runs in the sixth. Back-to-back doubles from Huskey and Bridgette Trujillo put the Eagles ahead 3-0. Later in the inning, back-to-back singles from Tsue and Jackie Ibarra gave them their 5-0 lead.
