Sixth Spoils Saturday

The sixth inning spelled doom for Biola, as Fresno Pacific grabbed game two.

April 19, 2025

Box Score LA MIRADA --- It was a tightly contested game two on Saturday afternoon until the sixth inning. Fresno Pacific (21-26, 16-24 PacWest) bolted in front of Biola (20-23, 17-19 PacWest) for a 15-8 final scoreline.

Big swings from Biola opened up the ballgame once again, just like in game one of the doubleheader on Saturday. This time it was James Whitman with the first inning blast, knocking a two-run homer for his 13th of the year.

Four hits aided the Eagles in taking the lead in the third frame. Biola put up three runs for a 5-3 edge through three innings. Luke Caruso picked up a big hit, landing an RBI double in the at bat.

Another offensive opportunity in the fourth provided more runs, including a solo home run from Isaiah Leon. Jacob Talbott also made it around the bases, following his double to left-center.

The Fresno Pacific offense got going in the top of the fifth, as three hits and an error led to four runs and a tie ballgame at seven.

Unfortunately, the momentum stayed with the visitors who took the lead for good in the sixth inning. FPU erupted for eight runs, batting around the order in the at bat.

BU earned one run back in the bottom of the sixth for the 15-8 final.

The Eagles will look to bounce back next Friday, as they host Hawaii Hilo with a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 pm.
