SURPRIZE, Ariz.---The Biola men's tennis team had three athletes earn all-conference recognition.
Alejandro Flores Monteverde collected First Team All-PacWest honors in singles and doubles. The Sophomore led Biola all season from the first court where he picked up a 9-7 overall record. Flores Monteverde has notable wins over FPU's Ravi Nelson, PLNU's Alexander Leischner and CUI's Spencer Cinco.Â
Flores Monteverde is also ranked the 67th-best singles player in the nation by ITA.
Flores Monteverde and Jules Zanarelli were awarded First Team All-Conference honors in doubles. The pair have a 9-3 overall record from the first court and have wins against three nationally-ranked teams: #5 APU, #34 PLNU and #39 FPU.
Flores Monteverde and Zanarelli were nationally-ranked No. 36 last week by ITA and moved up to No. 16 this week. The duo also currently has an eight-match winning streak.
Patricio Larrea was named to the PacWest's Third Team. Larrea was 9-8 overall this season in singles. He was 4-6 from the second court, 2-1 from the third and 3-1 from the fourth. The Senior earned notable wins over five nationally-ranked teams including #5 APU, #20 CUI, #34 PLNU and #36 Colorado Mesa.
The Biola men's tennis team begins the first round of the PacWest Conference tomorrow Thursday, April 17th at 1 p.m. against CUI.
