A Successful Trip to Hawaii

The Biola softball team concluded the final game of their nine-game Hawaii trip. The Eagles had a very successful trip to the Hawaiian Islands, returning home with a 8-1 winning record.

HILO, Hawaii---The Biola softball team concluded the final game of their nine-game Hawaii trip. The Eagles had a very successful trip to the Hawaiian Islands, returning home with a 8-1 winning record. 

The Eagles lost the final game of the trip 4-1 to Hawaii Hilo. Biola still won the overall series against UH Hilo as they swept the Vulcans in their doubleheader yesterday.

Hawaii Hilo scored first in the first inning, but the Eagles would quickly tie it up in the second. Maddie Granados scored Biola's run with a sacrifice fly to center (1-1). Bridgette Trujillo, Mikala Huskey and Kennadie Tsue recorded hits in the second inning.

The Vulcans went on to score one more run in the third and two in the fifth to build up a four-run lead (4-1).

Raquel Reyes, Kayla Bousquette and DJ Symons made up Biola's pitching staff. The Vulcans scored one run off of Reyes in the first inning and three from Bousquette who came in during the first and threw 4.1 innings. DJ Symons came in during the fifth to throw the final out of the inning and then closed out the game. Symons allowed one hit in 1.1 innings of work.

Tsue and Trujillo batted 2-for-3 against the Vulcans. 

Biola's next doubleheader is against CUI on Friday, April 18th at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
