BU Splits the Day

A grand slam was not enough, as the Eagles dropped game two at Menlo.

April 11, 2025

Box Score ATHERTON, Calif. --- The second part of Friday's doubleheader got away from Biola (17-20, 14-16 PacWest). Big swings defined the day, as Menlo (6-30, 4-26 PacWest) took game two, 12-6.

Biola put its first run across off of one hit in the third inning. Adiel Torres extended his hitting streak to 18 with a single, moving Isaiah Leon to second base. A groundout moved Leon to third, before a balk gave Leon the last 90 feet for free.

A double from Luke Caruso led to BU's second score. Tommy Kendlinger brought Caruso home on a sacrifice fly to nab the RBI.

Home runs put the Eagles behind early though, as the Oaks went up, 4-2 through four innings behind three long balls.

Biola took its turn with a big swing, changing the game in the top of the fifth inning. Once again, a Leon single set up the opportunity, as a walk and hit by pitch followed for a bases loaded jam. BU's designated hitter, Sam Lisiak, did his job and flipped the script. Lisiak went deep for a grand slam, turning a two-run deficit into a two-run lead at 6-4.

Menlo had an answer, storming back in the sixth. The host squad tallied eight runs to retake control with a commanding six run lead with one inning to go.

The seventh inning held just one hit for BU, as the Oaks made sure to split the day.

Lisiak corralled two hits in four at bats in game two, totaling four RBI on his home run. Luke Caruso grabbed a double for the second-straight contest.

The Eagles will be right back to it on Saturday, facing Menlo in a doubleheader at 11:00 am.
