March 08, 2025

Box Score ROCKLIN, Calif. — A second-consecutive 6-1 victory helps Biola Men's Tennis conclude its Northern California road trip 2-0. The Eagles earned the doubles point and picked up wins at all but no. 6 singles in a dominant effort against new conference foes, the Jessup Warriors.

The win was the final road match of the regular season for Biola. Next week the team kicks off a 10-match home stand to finish the regular season and state its case for seeding at the PacWest tournament in late-April.

Alejandro Flores Monteverde and Jules Zanarelli combined for perfection at no. 1 doubles. It was the pairing's third win together this season, but the first time they won 6-0. Mateo Rivas and Patricio Larrea clinched the doubles point for Biola by nabbing a 6-3 win at the no. 2 spot. This was their first win together this year.

Biola's men earned straight-set victories at each of the top-5 singles spots. Carter Magistad at the no. 5 spot had the most convincing showing, setting aside his opponent with set scores of 6-1 and 6-0. Magistad improved to 2-0 this season.

Everyone on Biola's team played up one spot in singles as Alejandro Flores Monteverde was out for singles. Zanarelli held down the no. 1 flight in fine fashion, picking up a 6-1, 6-2 victory. It was his first win in the top flight this season.

Rivas was equally dominant at the no. 2 spot, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-0. The freshman has won two in a row and now sits at 4-5 this season in singles play.

The win helps Biola improve to 4-5 overall and 3-4 in matches against PacWest Conference teams. Up next for the Eagles is a 3 p.m. home dual against Hawaii Pacific on Wednesday, March 12.
