BU Wraps Up Season at Conference Championships

Biola gave it all they had, but ended up losing 54-44 to Dominican University at the Conlan Center.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif.---The Biola women's basketball team ended their season at the 2025 PacWest Women's Basketball Championships. Biola gave it all they had, but ended up losing 54-44 to Dominican University at the Conlan Center.

This is the third time the Eagles and Penguins have faced off this season. In the last two encounters, Biola lost by 23 points. BU improved in their final showdown, losing by just 10 to Dominican.

Sammie Henley shined against the Penguins, leading BU with 19 points. She also collected three rebounds, two assists and three steals. 

Laila Walker led her team with four steals and tied for a team-high of eight rebounds with Kaylen Kamelamela. 

The Eagles had a slow start, chasing the Penguins 29-17 after the first half. Biola regrouped after the halftime break with their best offensive showing of the game. Alyssa Kubo led the scoring with five points and she was followed by Kamelamela (three), Jessa Thurman (two), Walker (two) and Henley (two). 

Biola trailed Dominican by 16 points as they entered the fourth frame, but would trim the deficit to 10 by the end of the quarter. The Eagles finished strong, scoring 13 points while holding the Penguins to seven.

Henley led the fourth quarter scoring with four points. Four Eagles contributed two points including Hope Weber, Sydney Moran, Thurman and Kubo.

Biola concludes the season 7-22 overall and 7-13 in the PacWest Conference.
