March 27, 2025

VISTA, Calif. --- Biola dominated both sides of the ball in a week of three games. The team picked up two wins and earned both offensive and defensive player of the week honors through Veralie Naranjo and Gwendolyn Pidd.

The Eagles began their week with a night match against NCAA DI and No. 22 Marist College. A tough bout got away from BU but the team was ready to bounce back in conference play.

A road trip to central California meant two victories for BU, who took down Fresno Pacific in a nail-biter, before routing UC Merced.

WWPA Offensive Player of the Week Veralie Naranjo led the team in goals last week with 11 through three games. The senior got better as the week progressed, matching a career-best in the win against UC Merced with seven goals. The total matched her best from each of the past two seasons, while setting her best mark of 2025. Naranjo totaled 11 goals, two assists, eight drawn exclusions and three steals last week.

Gwendolyn Pidd broke out last week on the way to a WWPA Defensive Player of the Week award. The freshman paced the team with eight steals, while offering one field block. She came up huge against Marist, landing four goals and nabbing four steals. In addition to her defense, she added nine goals and one assist, which only trailed Naranjo for total points.

Biola has a short hiatus before continuing conference play next week with three home games beginning on Wednesday at 1:00 pm against Cal State Monterey Bay.
