BU Holds Their Ground Against Ranked APU

The women’s tennis team held their ground in their 4-3 loss to nationally-ranked No. 17 Azusa Pacific.

LA MIRADA---The Biola women's tennis team held their ground in their 4-3 loss to nationally-ranked No. 17 Azusa Pacific. 

The Eagles lost the doubles point, but would go on to make it a competitive match in singles. 

Biola picked up wins on the first, sixth and third courts. Isabella Chavarria won her match against nationally-ranked No. 32 Julia Jordan on the first court due to retirement. Chavarria was ahead when Jordan got injured. The Sophomore won the first set 7-1 in the tiebreak and was leading 4-2 when the match ended early.

Alexis Romano served APU's Shantelle Lopez her first singles loss of the year. Romano defeated her opponent 0-6, 6-4, 6-3 on the sixth court. 

Dafne Andres outlasted her opponent in a three-set battle. Andres won the first set 7-5,  lost the second set 6-8 in the second set tiebreak and ended up winning the third 10-8.

Next up for the Eagles is #19 Point Loma on Saturday, March 29 at 12 p.m. at the Biola Tennis Center.
