Game 1 Gets Away From Eagles

The Biola softball team lost the first game of their four game series against Jessup 9-4.

LA MIRADA---The Biola softball team lost the first game of their four game series against Jessup 9-4.

Jessup took an early lead, scoring solo runs in the second and third innings. 

The Eagles answered back in the bottom of the third, tying the game up (2-2). Alexa Medley doubled to lead off and was advanced to third by Makayla Jordan. Kennadie Tsue cashed in Medley with a sacrifice fly to left field. The Eagles' final run of the inning was scored by Bridgette Trujillo. Trujillo singled through the left side to score Kendall Nakano who worked her way on base with a single.

The Warriors wasted no time with their response, scoring five runs in the top of the fourth which gave them a 7-2 lead.

Jessup scored two more solo runs in the sixth and seventh innings (9-2). Biola rallied in the bottom of the seventh, but it wouldn't be enough to overcome Jessup who built up a lead too large to overcome. The Eagles scored their runs from two hits and one Warrior error. Mikala Huskey scored Biola's third run and Trujillo scored the fourth (9-4). Raquel Reyes and Huskey recorded BU's hits.

Kayla Bousquette started the game for Biola in the circle. Bousquette threw 3.2 innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs to score while striking out four. Maddie Granados closed the game, allowing the Warriors five hits and two more runs to score while striking out two.
