The Biola softball team defeated Stanislaus State 13-2 in the second game of the day’s doubleheader.

TURLOCK, Calif.---The Biola softball team defeated Stanislaus State 13-2 in the second game of the day's doubleheader.

Biola got the scoring started early, posting five runs in the first inning. The Eagles scored their five runs from six hits. Jackie Ibarra, Alexa Medley, Makayla Jordan, Kennadie Tsue, Kamryn Guthrie and Mikala Huskey produced hits. RBIs were recorded by Tsue, Racquel Reyes and Guthrie.

Biola scored another run in the second inning and tacked on two more in the fourth. The Eagles run in the second was scored thanks to a Warrior error. Biola had three hits in the fourth that allowed them to score more runs. Jordan and Tsue had RBIs in the fourth inning (8-0).

Stan State eventually answered with two runs in the fifth, but it wouldn't be enough to slow down BU. The Eagles kept their composure and ended the game with a seventh inning rally that allowed them to add to their already dominant lead. Five hits and one Warrior error led to Biola scoring five more runs.

Leilani Salgado, Reyes, Ariana Banos, Ibarra, and Phebe Rodriguez supplied hits in the top of the seventh. Salgado's hit was the first of her career as well as her first collegiate at-bat.

Ibarra led BU's offense going 4-for-5. Jordan also had an impressive offensive performance, going 3-for-3.

DJ Symons started the game and threw the first four innings. The Junior had a dominant performance, only allowing three Warrior hits while striking out two. Reyes closed the game out for the Eagles, allowing the Warriors five hits and two runs to score from three innings of work. The Graduate Student recorded one strikeout.

Biola improves to 6-6 overall. BU plays next on Tuesday, February 25 where they will open PacWest Conference play against Jessup University.
