A Great Day

It was a great day for the Biola softball team who swept nationally-ranked No. 15 Cal State Dominguez Hills in their doubleheader at Freedom Field.

LA MIRADA--- It was a great day for the Biola softball team who swept nationally-ranked No. 15 Cal State Dominguez Hills in their doubleheader at Freedom Field.

The Eagles were led by back-to-back dominant pitching performances by Kayla Bousquette and then DJ Symons. Both Junior hurlers threw complete game shutouts against the Toros.

Game 1: BU 2 CSUDH 0
Bousquette threw a two-hitter shutout against Cal State Dominguez Hills. The Junior painted the corners, producing 14 groundouts and four fly outs. Bousquette also had a strikeout against the Toros.

The Eagles offense produced seven hits against CSUDH and scored single runs in the first and third innings. Biola's first run was scored by freshman Kendall Nakano who batted in Jackie Ibarra who got on from a base knock.

BU's second run was knocked in by Kennadie Tsue. Tsue blasted a stand-up double that scored Medley who got on from a well-placed bunt.

Nakano led the Eagles with two hits against the Toros.

Bousquette improved to 2-2 in the circle and the Eagles improved to 3-6 overall.

Game 2: BU 5 CSUDH 0
Symons also stepped up, throwing a gem against the Toros. The Junior worked her spins and forced eight Toros to flyout and six to groundout. She also recorded six strikeouts against CSUDH. Cal State Dominguez Hills had seven hits but Biola would repeatedly shut them down on defense.

Biola's first run of the game was scored in the third inning. The Eagles executed some situational hitting that allowed them to push across a run. Bridgette Trujillo had a lead off single and was pushed to second by a Kamryn Guthrie sacrifice bunt. Raquel Reyes advanced Trujillo to third from a grounder to second. Trujillo was sent home in the next at-bat from and a Jackie Ibarra single.

Ibarra has the second-most RBIs on her team, with five, just behind Makayla Jordan who has seven.
