LA MIRADA --- On Tuesday morning, Graduate center Gavin McKenzie earned his first WWPA Player of the Week nod in the final week of the season. McKenzie proved to be a key piece of Biola's final week success.
"Gavin has been incredibly consistent this season overall, especially in the last stretch of the regular season." said head coach,
Jens Cole. "He's playing with a great feel for the game and is keeping a lot of defenses off balance. He's extremely comfortable in competitive situations, and knows that he can impact the game in more than one way. We are really happy for him and are just excited he's playing his best water polo in his last season."
McKenzie netted six goals over two games but his impact was off the ball as well. Across those two games, he drew 10 total exclusions, giving the Eagles powerplay opportunities.
As the Eagles travel to Ohio this weekend, McKenzie looks to continue his dominance in the WWPA Championship. Biola will play No. 3 seeded Salem on Fri. Nov. 21st at 11 a.m. PST.
