BU Scores 1 Against Nationally-Ranked APU

Peyton Nelson scored the Biola women’s soccer team’s goal in their 2-1 loss to nationally-ranked No. 25 Azusa Pacific at the Cougar Soccer Complex.

AZUSA, Calif.---Peyton Nelson scored the Biola women's soccer team's goal in their 2-1 loss to nationally-ranked No. 25 Azusa Pacific at the Cougar Soccer Complex. 

Peyton Nelson scored off a penalty kick in the 78th minute. Azusa Pacific had a handball in the penalty area which resulted in BU's pk opportunity.

The Eagles held nationally-ranked Cougars to a scoreless first half. Goalkeeper Autum Monty made four saves to keep the game tied heading into the halftime break.

APU went on to score goals in the 58th and 75th minutes. Biola was trailing 2-0 when Nelson scored. 

Monty made one more save after Biola's goal in the 78th minute. Monty faced a total of 14 shots and made seven total saves.

Seven Eagles played the full 90 against Azusa Pacific including Monty, Nelson, Taylor Bradshaw, Taylin Laws, Hayden Gehring, Riley Brumfield and Briley Phelps.

Biola drops to 3-3-8 overall and 0-2-5 in the PacWest Conference while APU improves 9-2-3 and 6-1-0 in the PacWest.

BU plays next at home against CUI on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 4 p.m.
