Eagles Lose Momentum in Final Frame

The women’s basketball team fell 57-42 to Chaminade at McCabe Gymnasium.

HONOLULU, Hawaii---The Biola women's basketball team battled to win the first three quarters but a late surge from the Chaminade Silverswords would result in their 57-42 loss at McCabe Gymnasium.

The Eagles led the Silverswords after the first (15-12), second (23-18) and third (37-35) quarters. Biola's best offensive frame was in the first where they outscored Chaminade 15-12. Jaycee Goldsmith led the scoring effort with two three pointers. Behind Goldsmith was Laila Walker (5), Kaylen Kamelamela (2) and Alyssa Kubo (2).

Biola began the fourth quarter leading Chaminade 37-35 but the Silverswords would quickly find their stride. Chaminade held the Eagles to five points while they scored a game-high of 22.

Walker led BU's scoring effort with nine points. She was followed by Sammie Henley and Jessa Thurman. Walker also had a game-high of six assists and four steals against the Silverswords. Kamelamela and Goldsmith led the Eagles' on the boards, both collecting six.

The Eagles fell 3-12 overall and 3-4 in the PacWest Conference while the Silverswords improved 5-9 and 4-4 in the PacWest.

Biola continues their Hawaii road trip with Hawaii Hilo up next. The Eagles and Vulcans face off on Saturday, Jan. 11th at 5:30 p.m. HT (7:30 p.m. PT).
