January 07, 2025

LA MIRADA --- The Biola men's water polo program has cemented itself as a top team in NCAA Division II, which was reflected on Tuesday. The ACWPC announced its 2024 All-Americans, highlighting John Grasso, Mitchell Carpenter, and Nolan Rapp on the prestigious list.

Along with the player distinctions, the Eagle coaching staff made an appearance in the announcement. Dr. Micah Klausman was named the ACWPC DII Assistant Coach of the Year.

Klausman was the first ever winner of the assistant coach of the year for Division II. 2024 was Klausman's third season on staff at Biola, helping the Eagles climb since its inaugural season in 2021. Next to Head Coach Rick Nordell, Klausman has helped the team rise to a 2023 WWPA Conference Championships and an appearance at the National Collegiate Men's Water Polo Championships.

In the pool, Grasso delivered for the Eagles in his senior campaign on the way to the First Team All-American nod. He paced the squad with 66 goals and 58 steals from his center defender position. The outstanding season for the veteran led to multiple conference accolades, including First Team All-WWPA and the WWPA All-Defensive Team.

Carpenter also added to his All-WWPA First Team selection with the First Team All-American announcement on Tuesday. BU's goalkeeper thrived in the cage in his final season, tabulating 261 saves through 29 games played. He also picked up 42 steals and seven assists to aid the Eagles' cause.

ACWPC Honorable Mention All-American, Rapp, added to his career in 2024 with 59 goals, 54 assists, and 57 steals. He was the only player in DII with at least 50 in each category. Following the season, he was also named Second Team All-WWPA and to the WWPA All-Defensive Team.

Both Rapp and Carpenter repeated as ACWPC All-Americans, also making the list in 2023.
