Rechin Scores, Eagles Edged in the Final Moments

The women’s soccer team played with heart against Cal State East Bay but would be edged 2-1 in the match’s final moments.

LA MIRADA---The Biola women's soccer team played with heart against Cal State East Bay but would be edged 2-1 in the match's final moments.

Biola started off strong, securing the first goal of the game. Kierstin Havens found Marije Rechin in the box who sent in BU's goal in the 18th minute.

CSUEB evened the score four minutes later (1-1) and neither team would score again for the remainder of the half.

Tension grew in the second half as both teams fought to gain the advantage. However, CSUEB would end up with the upper hand, receiving a penalty kick opportunity with one second remaining on the clock.

Despite a great effort by Biola's keeper, Autum Monty, the Pioneers would cash in on the pk and win 2-1.

Throughout the match, Monty faced six shots from Cal State East Bay and made two saves to keep it close for Biola.

The Eagles will regroup and prepare for their next match on Monday, September 16 at 7 pm at Al Barbour Field.
