The Ultimate Utility

Bobby Brown picked up a D2CCA Second Team All-West Region award for his work as a utility/pitcher.

May 23, 2024

LA MIRADA --- The NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association announced its 2024 Baseball All-West Region Teams on Thursday, highlighting Biola's Bobby Brown. The junior earned a spot on the D2CCA All-West Region Second Team as a utility/pitcher.

Brown put in work in 2024 as a middle infielder and a pitcher. Through the 50 game season, Brown saw six games at second base, five at shortstop, nine as a designated hitter and 11 appearances on the mound.

To open up the year, the junior righty was the leader in the Biola rotation. The opening day starter tossed 10 strikeouts in the first game of the year and followed that performance with back-to-back starts without an earned run. Through five starts and 29.2 innings pitched, Brown boasted a 1.82 earned-run average with a 3-0 overall record.

Brown finished 2024 with four wins and a 4.73 ERA. He logged multiple strikeouts in every outing, while compiling 50 total.

At the dish, Brown opened up with the same fervor as he did on the mound. The first six games of the year came with a six-game hitting streak. He peaked at a .379 batting average through eight games and batted over .300 through the first 12 games of 2024, while also stealing five bases and smacking three homers.

Brown dealt with injuries as the season progressed and missed time near the end of 2024 with his final appearance on April 11.

Brown added the 2024 D2CCA Second Team All-PacWest selection to his 2024 First Team All-PacWest nod from earlier in May.
