Avenging in San Diego

The men’s tennis team avenged their 4-3 loss in La Mirada with a 4-3 victory in San Diego over nationally-ranked No. 47 Point Loma at the PLNU Tennis Courts.

SAN DIEGO, Calif.---The Biola men's tennis team avenged their 4-3 loss in La Mirada with a 4-3 victory in San Diego over nationally-ranked No. 47 Point Loma at the PLNU Tennis Courts.

The doubles point seemed to be the decision maker against the Sea Lions. Biola won on the first and third courts to take the all-important point. Adrian Solorzano and Nico Ramírez tabbed BU's first doubles win 6-2. After falling on the second court, Thiago Canessa and Alejandro Flores Monteverde clinched the point with a 6-2 win on the third court.

The Eagles and Sea Lions proceeded to split singles. Biola won on courts four, five and six.

Patricio Larrea earned Biola's first singles win on the fifth court, defeating his opponent 6-2, 6-2.

Flores Monteverde recorded the Eagles' second win on the third court where he beat his opponent 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

Santino Serrallonga clinched the match on the sixth court, winning 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 over PLNU's Lukas Schuster. 

Biola lost on the first, second and fourth courts in three-set battles. Nationally-ranked No. 27 Ramírez fell to nationally-ranked No. 36 Alexander Leischner. Ramírez lost his first set in a tiebreak (7-5), came back to win the second 6-3 and would fall 3-6 in the third.

Solorzano won his first set 6-3 and would drop his last two 6-4, 6-3 on the second court.

Callen Hein also won his first set on the fourth court (6-4) and would lose his last two 6-2, 7-5.

Biola (12-7) plays next on Monday, Apr. 8 against Fresno Pacific at 10 a.m. at the Haak Tennis Complex.
