Home Run Party Goes the Way of No. 4 Point Loma

Friday featured 10 home runs between Biola and Point Loma through the afternoon doubleheader.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- Biola hit the road to begin its final series of the 2024 season on Friday. The Eagles took on the fourth-ranked Sea Lions of Point Loma in an afternoon doubleheader. PLNU closed out both games on top, dropping the Eagles 12-2 in game one and 8-4 in game two.

The BU squad picked up six runs between the two games on Friday. All six runs were on account of an Eagles home run. Three two-run homers produced every run for the Eagles, as the power hitting showed its strength.

Noah Ruiz launched the first long ball, going deep in the fourth inning of game one. The homer brought home Taylor Justus as well, as the BU shortstop recorded his sixth home run of 2024.

In game two, Wyatt Duncan kicked off the contest with a home run in the top of the first. The round-tripper gave the Eagles their first lead of the day at 2-0. His seventh homer scored Austin Carrillo, who had a great game at the plate. The leadoff man reached base in all four opportunities, going 3-3 with a walk. Carrillo laced three singles and scored twice, while also swiping a base.

The third homer of the day and the second of game two for Biola came from Isaiah Leon. Leon drove the ball the opposite way for his third homer of the year.

Duncan put together a strong afternoon with four hits through the doubleheader. A pair of multi-hit games pushed his season total to 18, while logging three-in-a-row.

Biola will host the final two games of its season on Saturday against No. 4 Point Loma with Senior Day beginning at 11:40 am and first pitch at 12:00 pm.
