Biola Challenges CUI

The Biola softball team challenged nationally-ranked No. 17 CUI in a close 2-0 game at Freedom Field.

LA MIRADA---The Biola softball team challenged nationally-ranked No. 17 CUI in a close 2-0 game at Freedom Field.

Both teams were scoreless in the first six innings but CUI would pull ahead with two runs in the top of the seventh.

Biola brought energy into the bottom of the seventh but would fall short against Concordia's pitcher Cortney Koelmans.

Kayla Bousquette threw 6.1 innings against Concordia, successfully shutting them down until the seventh inning. The Golden Eagles had four hits against Bousquette, two were spread out and two were in the seventh. Additionally, she struck out four Golden Eagles.

DJ Symons closed the seventh, working to get the final two runs of the inning and send her team back to offense.

Abie Nowak, Brie Nowak and Maddie Riley had hits against Koelmans in BU's 2-0 loss.

Biola plays next on Saturday, Apr. 27 at 12 and 2:30 p.m. against Azusa Pacific at the Cougar Softball Complex.
