SURPRISE, Ariz.---The Biola men's tennis team begins the 2024 PacWest Championships tomorrow Thursday, Apr. 18 at 9 a.m. at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Club.

Biola, nationally-ranked No. 50, was selected as the third seed which pairs them against sixth-seeded Fresno Pacific.

BU enters the conference championships 14-7 overall which includes two wins over nationally-ranked PacWest Conference teams (Hawaii Hio and PLNU). Biola also has a three-match winning streak entering their match against Fresno Pacific.

The Eagles and Sunbirds have faced each other twice this season and both times Biola defeated FPU 5-2.

BU is led by nationally-ranked No. 32 Nico Ramírez who has been named PacWest Player of the Week twice and is 13-4 from the first court. Additionally, Ramírez is the second-highest nationally-ranked PacWest Conference singles player.

The Eagles are looking to improve upon their 2023 PacWest Tournament finish. Last year, the BU squad lost their first round 4-2 to CUI which put them in the consolation bracket. BU ended up defeating Hawaii Hilo 4-0 to make it to the fifth place match-up against MSU Denver where they won 4-2.

Five of Biola's players carry double-digit wins in singles entering the tournament. Adrian Solorzano paces the team with 14 and is followed by Ramírez (13), Santino Serrallonga (11) and Patricio Larrea at 10.

Ramírez and Solorzano lead Biola's doubles partners with a 11-5 record from BU's first court.
