Offensive Trouble

The softball team played a close game against Cal State Dominguez Hills but would face some offensive trouble, resulting in their 3-0 loss at Freedom Field.

LA MIRADA—The Biola softball team played a close game against Cal State Dominguez Hills but a CSUDH home run would end up being the difference maker in the Eagles' 3-0 loss at Freedom Field.

The Eagles (14-20 overall) and Toros (27-13) were neck-and-neck until the fifth inning when CSUDH charged ahead. Two singles allowed Cal State Dominguez Hills to get runners in scoring position and then a home run over the left field fence would end up clearing the bases (3-0).

Biola tried to get something going offensively but would fall short to the Toro's pitching staff.

The Eagles were limited to six scattered hits. Allie Beck, Alexa Medley and Brie Nowak batted 1-for-1. Additionally, Hailey Paull and Abie Nowak hit .500 in the second game.

Raylene Roybal threw the first six innings where the Toros had 10 hits and scored three runs. She also struck out two.

DJ Symons closed out the seventh inning, entering the game with no outs and runners on first and second. Symons dug deep and struck out the next three batters to send BU to offense.

Biola and Cal State Dominguez Hills will play again tomorrow Friday, Apr. 12 at 12 and 2 p.m. at the Toro Diamond.
