Eagles Shut Out Cougars in Game One

The softball team shut out Azusa Pacific 1-0 in the first part of the evening’s doubleheader at Freedom Field.

LA MIRADA—The Biola softball team shut out Azusa Pacific 1-0 in the first part of the evening's doubleheader at Freedom Field.

After three scoreless innings of action, Biola broke through in the bottom of the fourth.

Abie Nowak began the inning for the Eagles with a lead-off triple. Nowak was then replaced by Maddie Riley who came in to pinch run. One out passed which brought Kennadie Tsue up to bat. Tsue picked up her team with a sacrifice fly to center field which scored Riley and gave Biola the 1-0 lead.

The Eagles relied on their defense to close out the game and successfully shut out the Cougars in the last three innings. 

Raylene Roybal pitched the complete game for Biola where she only allowed two hits in seven innings of work. Roybal collected five strikeouts and tossed three 1-2-3 innings. Roybal closed the game out strong with 1-2-3 innings in the sixth and seventh innings.
