Eagles Edged by MSU Billings

The softball team scored first, but Montana State University Billings would score last in the Eagles’ 2-1 loss at the Otter Sports Complex.

SEASIDE, Calif.---The Biola softball team scored first, but Montana State University Billings would score last in the Eagles' 2-1 loss at the Otter Sports Complex.

Biola scored their run in the fifth inning. Kennadie Tsue singled to get the fifth inning started for BU, but the Eagles faced some adversity as the next two batters got out. Bridgette Trujillo singled to keep the inning going which gave Biola runners on first and third.

Maddie Riley clutched up next with a single to center that scored Biola's only run of the game (1-0).

The Yellowjackets answered back with solo home runs in the sixth and seventh innings. MSUB's homer in the seventh walked off the game as they were the designated home team.

Raylene Roybal pitched the first five innings for Biola where she allowed MSUB four hits. Kayla Bousquette closed the final two innings for the Eagles, giving up two runs off of two hits.

Trujillo led Biola's offense with two hits (2-for-2). Riley, Tsue and Abie Nowak recorded a hit against the Yellowjackets.

Biola's next game in the Otter Invitational is tomorrow Saturday, Mar. 22 at 9 a.m. against Northwest Nazarene.
