Riley Puts Biola on the Board

Maddie Riley doubled in the top of the seventh inning to put Biola on the scoreboard in their 7-1 loss to Cal State Monterey Bay.

SEASIDE, Calif.---Maddie Riley doubled in the top of the seventh inning to put Biola on the scoreboard in their 7-1 loss to Cal State Monterey Bay.

Cal State Monterey Bay scored runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to build up a seven-run lead.

The Eagles struggled against CSUMB's pitcher, Mackenzie Willis, but were able to break through in the seventh inning.

Hailey Paul worked a walk to get the inning started for Biola, but Willis would slow the Eagles' momentum by striking out the next two batters.

With two outs in the seventh, Riley came up and delivered a clutch double which put Biola onto the board in their eventual 7-1 loss.

Overall, Biola's offense struggled CSUMB's Willis who only allowed BU two hits while striking out 11 of Biola's batters.

Mikala Huskey had Biola's second hit which was a double down the left field line in the third inning.

The Eagles' pitching staff included Kayla Bousquette, DJ Symons, and Kylee Messmer. Bousquette totaled five innings of action where she allowed seven hits and three runs to score. Symons came in to relieve in the fifth and gave up three hits and two runs. Messmer closed the game out in the sixth where the Otters had one hit and scored two runs.
