Held Off in Loss

The softball team efforted to come back in their 4-2 loss against Hawaii Hilo but would be held short.

LA MIRADA---The Biola softball team efforted to come back in their 4-2 loss against Hawaii Hilo but would be held short.

The Vulcans had a big first inning where they scored three runs off of four hits.

Biola rallied back in the third inning to make it a one-run ballgame (3-2). With two outs, DJ Symons picked up the energy by doubling to left center. Alexa Medley then scored Symons by smacking a single to deep center. Medley ended up trading places with Symons as she advanced to second on the throw home.

Mikala Huskey kept the rally going, also hitting a single to center that scored speedy Medley from second.

Two scoreless innings passed and then Hawaii Hilo would tack on another run in the top of the sixth which extended their lead to 4-2.

The Vulcans' pitcher closed out the game strong, holding Biola in the final two innings. 

DJ Symons came in to relieve for BU toward the end of the first inning. Symons came in with the bases loaded and two outs. The Sophomore held her composure and minimized the damage, only allowing one base hit before recording the final out of the inning.

Symons pitched the rest of the game and only gave up one more run to the Vulcans in the sixth inning.
