Eagles Execute

The women’s tennis team executed a 6-1 victory over MSU Denver at the Biola Tennis Center.

LA MIRADA---The Biola women's tennis team executed a 6-1 victory over MSU Denver at the Biola Tennis Center.

Biola worked ahead with the doubles point. Lilly McNeill and Colbeyshae Emery gave BU the edge with a dominant 6-0 win on the second court. MSU Denver then leveled the match with a win on the third court.

All eyes turned to the first court as nationally-ranked No. 14 doubles pair Brooke Fager and Alexandria Mann were battling against MSUD's Courtenay Leonard and Kim Heddes. Fager and Mann ended up clinching the doubles point with their 6-4 win on the first court.

Kailee Mazzeo started singles strong, putting Biola up 2-0 with her 6-1, 6-2 win on the court 2. 

The Roadrunners would answer back with a win on the fourth court, but the Eagles would finish strong with wins on the remaining four courts.

Brooke Fager recorded Biola's next win on the fifth court where she defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-4. McNeill then earned the Eagles' next win on the second court by defeating her opponent 6-4, 6-4.

Emery collected Biola's fourth singles win on the first court against nationally-ranked No. 21 Emily Hafner. Emery won her first set against Hafner 6-4 and then outlasted Hafner 10-8 in the second-set tiebreak. 

Isabella Chavarria collected Biola's final victory of the afternoon where she won the three-set battle against MSUD's Kambra Roles. Chavarria lost her first set 5-7 and rallied back to win the next two 6-3, 10-3.

Biola improved 10-5 over while MSU Denver fell 3-10.

The Eagles compete next on Monday, Mar. 18 at 12 p.m. against Hawaii Hilo.
