Toe-To-Toe

The men’s tennis team went toe-to-toe with nationally-ranked No. 30 Texas Permian Basin at the Biola Tennis Center.

LA MIRADA—The Biola men's tennis team went toe-to-toe with nationally-ranked No. 30 Texas Permian Basin at the Biola Tennis Center.

Biola put up a good fight against their nationally-ranked opponents, but would end up being edged 4-3.

The Eagles (6-5 overall) started strong by claiming the doubles point. The Falcons (11-1) won the first set on the third court but Biola would answer with back-to-back wins on the first and second courts.

Nico Ramírez and Adrian Solorzano got the ball rolling with a 6-2 victory on the first court and then Patricio Larrea and Alejandro Flores Monteverde clinched the point with their 6-4 win on the third court.

Biola suffered during singles where the Falcons recorded back-to-back wins on courts 1-4. Three of the four singles losses were three-set battles. Solorzano, Larrea and Flores Monteverde went three-sets deep on the second, third and fourth courts.

Santino Serrallonga and Callen Hein earned wins for Biola on the fifth and sixth courts. The pair won pro sets against their opponents. Serrallonga won 8-5 over UTPB's Jonas Krahofer and Hein won 8-6 over UTPB's Lucas Nitzschke.

Biola plays next tomorrow at 12 p.m. against Hawaii Pacific at the Biola Tennis Center.
