Eagles Split the Day

The Biola Softball team competed hard on Saturday as they fell in game one but finished out the day with a strong 7-0 win.

MORAGA, Calif.--- The Biola Eagles (3-6 Overall, 1-3 PacWest) played the final two games of the four game series at Academy of Art (7-6 Overall, 3-1 PacWest) on Saturday. After a pair of close call games on Friday, the Eagles looked ready to go on Saturday as they kept the Urban Knights on their feet in game one and came back in game two and finished out the day strong with a big win.

Game 1: Biola 4 ART U 6

Biola made their way onto the scoreboard first, scoring one run off of three hits and one Urban Knight error.

Kennadie Tsue, Ariana Banos and Makayla Jordan contributed back-to-back singles. Tsue ended up scoring on Jordan's single to right field which gave Biola the 1-0 lead.

The Urban Knights answered back in the bottom of the fourth inning scoring three runs on three hits and an Eagles error, giving ART U a 3-1 lead.

Alexa Medley and Abie Nowak opened up the fifth inning with singles followed by an ART U error, which brought the Eagles right back in the game, tying it up at three a piece.

DJ Symons pitched a scoreless bottom of the fifth, holding the Urban Knights back from attempting to take another lead.

After being held scoreless in the fifth, the Urban Knights were able to put together a rally and took advantage of another error to bring in two more runs, eventually taking a 6-3 lead.

The Eagles attempted to make a late comeback as they got runners on base and scored another run. BU was unable to complete the comeback in game one, falling to ART U by two.

Freshman infielder, Alexa Medley worked hard at the plate as she went 3-for-4 in game one on Saturday. Medley recorded an RBI and scored two runs.

Game 2: Biola 7 ART U 0

The Biola Softball team was looking to flip the script in game two as they opened up with a hot start and held the Urban Knights scoreless in the final game of the four game weekend series between Biola and Academy of Art.
The Eagles got things started in the second inning as they found ways to get runners on base and make contact with the ball to bring the runners in. BU picked up five runs on five hits and one ART U error.

Both teams were scoreless for the next three innings before the Eagles scored up a run in both the sixth and seventh innings to seal the big win.

Raylene Roybal had a stellar outing as she pitched a complete game shutout. Roybal struck out eight, walked three and only gave up five hits. Saturday's win went down in the record book as Roybal's second win of the season.

Three freshmen stood out for the Eagles in game two. Alexa Medley, Mikala Huskey and Kennadie Tsue all had a good day at the plate. Medley kept her momentum rolling through the second game as she went 3-for-5 and picked up another RBI. Husky went 3-for-3 at the plate with three singles and a walk. She also had two RBI's and scored two runs. Tsue went 2-for-3 and also scored a run for the Eagles.

The Eagles will head back to La Mirada to prepare for their next game where they will host Azusa Pacific at home at 12 P.M. on March 2.
