LA MIRADA—The Biola men's tennis team added eight newcomers to their 2024 roster which included three transfers and five freshmen.

"We are very excited about this year's group of newcomers," stated head coach David Goodman. "For the men this year, we have brought in eight new student-athletes. They are a fun and energetic group to be around. The five newcomer freshmen are a talented group and it will be fun to watch them progress over the next few seasons. We also have three transfer men that all bring a lot of experience to our team and will definitely be the guys we rely on in the big game time moments."

Nico Ramírez / Senior / Castellon, Spain / Lee University
Ramírez joined the Eagles from Lee University where he played four seasons for the Flames. Ramírez ended his career with a 38-20 overall singles record and a 28-12 doubles record. He was also a  First Team All-GSC selection and earned academic honors such as GSC All-Academic team, ITA Scholar-Athlete and GSC Honor Roll.

Santino Serrallonga / Junior / La Plata, Argentina / Ventura College
Serrallonga came to Biola from Ventura College where he played two years with the Pirates. While at Ventura College, Serrallonga was the WSC Singles Champion and a State quarter-finalist. He also won awards such as ITA First Team Singles and Doubles, ITA All-American and was honored with the Ventura College Hall of Fame award. 

Serrallonga's 2023 singles record was 19-1 and his doubles record was 13-5 where he helped his team become WSC League Champions and runners-up at Regionals. 

Patricio Larrea / Junior / Ambato, Ecuador / Western New Mexico
Larrea is a junior transfer from Western New Mexico University. Larrea played two seasons with the Mustangs and ended his career at WNMU with a 13-18 singles record and a 11-13 doubles record.

Luke Forester / Freshman /Corvallis, Ore. / Crescent Valley
Forester graduated from Crescent Valley High School in spring 2023. While at Crescent Valley, he helped his team make program history as the first team to become State Champions and in 2022 he was a doubles State Champion. Forester also earned academic honors all four years of high school.

Thiago Canessa / Freshman / Ventura, Calif. / Ventura
Canessa comes to Biola from Ventura High School where he played three years of varsity and was a two-time All-League selection. He also was a Chanel and Pacific League Champion.

Clyde Kuennen / Freshman / Yuba City, Calif. / Visions in Education
Kuennen joins the Eagles from the Visions in Education Charter School located in Carmichael, California. 

When asked why he chose Biola, Kuennen responded, "I loved the community and the campus. Plus my sister was already attending Biola."

Tanner Summers / Freshman /Tulsa, Okla. / Crescent Valley
Summers, an Oklahoma native, comes to Biola after attending Tulsa Community College for one year. Prior to Tulsa CC, he played four seasons at Blue Valley North and graduated in 2022.

Alejandro Flores Monteverde / Freshman /Mexico / Tecnologico de Monterrey
Flores Monteverde came to Biola from Mexico, after attending Tecnologico de Monterrey High School. His high school didn't offer sports, but he played in his free time.

When asked why he chose Biola, Flores Monteverde said, "I liked the school, the campus and the people." 

Biola plays next tomorrow Thursday, Feb. 22 at 1 pm against Concordia at the Biola Tennis Center.
