So Close

Biola fell 2-1 to nationally-ranked No. 19 Adelphi who pulled ahead in the seventh inning.

LA MIRADA---The Biola softball team came so close to winning the second game of their doubleheader against nationally-ranked No. 19 Adelphi but ended up falling 2-1 at Freedom Field.

The Eagles (2-3 overall) and Panthers (2-4) played five and a half scoreless innings until Biola broke through in the bottom of the sixth. With one out, Raylene Roybal singled up the middle to get the inning going for BU and then Abie Nowak doubled to right center to give the Eagles runners on first and third.

Biola scored in the next at-bat. Makayla Jordan got on by a third baseman throwing error and Allie Beck (pinch running for Roybal) scored on the play.

BU led 1-0 heading into the seventh inning, but the Panthers weren't going down without a fight. Adelphi ended up scoring two runs off of two hits and one Eagle error to pull ahead 2-1.

The Panthers closed out the game with a 1-2-3 inning that solidified their 2-1 win over Biola.

Nowak led Biola's offense, going 2-for-3. Maddie Riley also hit 500 with a single in the bottom of the fifth.

Kayla Bousquette threw the complete game and only allowed the Panthers' five hits and one earned run. The Sophomore also struck out four batters.
