#19 Adelphi Takes Game One over Biola

The Eagles were unable to get things going to open up Wednesday’s doubleheader, dropping game one to No. 19 Adelphi.

LA MIRADA --- Biola (2-2) finally returned to the diamond after several canceled contests but found themselves in a tough battle against a ranked opponent. The 19th-ranked Adelphi Panthers (1-4) took control in the first and did not let up on the way to a run rule 8-0 win in game one of Wednesday's doubleheader.

The BU lineup fought tooth and nail through each at bat on Wednesday. The team worked deep into counts but struggled to find the gaps.

Biola's best opportunity to jump onto the scoreboard was in the bottom of the second. Abie Nowak led off reaching base with a hit by pitch and Alexa Medley reached next with a sacrifice bunt that resulted in an error by the defense. Suddenly, BU had runners on first and third with no outs.

The timely hit did not come with back-to-back outs stifling the opportunity. Kennadie Tsue got a chance at the plate and fouled off pitch after pitch after pitch, until she drew a walk in the 10-plus pitch at bat. The walk loaded the bases but a strikeout followed, ending the BU at bat.

Jackie Ibarra offered two hits in the contest, going 2-3 at the dish. The freshman slapped through two singles for her first multi-hit game of her young career.

Biola will finish its Wednesday doubleheader against Adelphi with game two starting at 4:30 pm.
