Academic Success

The women's soccer team had six athletes named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators.

GREENWOOD, Ind.---The Biola women's soccer team had six athletes named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators.

To be eligible student-athletes must have been a starter or key reserve who played in 90 percent or started in 66 percent of their team's games with a 3.5 cumulative grade point average. The athlete must also be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. 

Peyton Nelson, Briley Phelps, Chloe Laurin, Leah Kakigi, Autum Monty and Riley Brumfield represented Biola as Academic All-District selections.

Nelson has a 3.79 cumulative GPA in nursing. Nelson was a Third Team All-PacWest pick who played in every game and recorded 1,451 minutes. She scored four goals and contributed four assists in 2024, totaling 12 points. The Team Captain also had the second-most shots on goal (24) and fourth-most shots (47) in the PacWest.

Phelps has a cumulative GPA of 3.71 in her bachelor's of sociology. The Sophomore Team Captain scored four goals and contributed two assists, totaling 10 points. A highlight of her season was when she scored two goals and an assist in Biola's win over HPU. Phelps' 40 shots was the 10th-most in the PacWest Conference. 

Laurin is majoring in nursing and has a cumulative GPA of 3.91. The Senior Defender played and started in every match, totaling 1,328 minutes. 

Kakigi has a 3.87 cumulative GPA in her bachelor's of nursing. Kakigi played in every match, totaling 999 minutes of action. She ended the year with a shots on goal percentage of .600.

Monty is majoring in nursing and has a cumulative GPA of 3.73. Monty was Biola's starting goalkeeper who totaled 1,460 minutes from 17 matches. Monty ended the year with a goals against average of 1.11, 53 saves, and a save percentage of .746.

Brumfield has a 3.66 cumulative GPA in healthcare management. Brumfield played in every match this season and totaled 782 minutes. She also had one assist in 2024.
