Eagles Win in Exhibition

The women’s basketball team began the season with an exciting 68-57 exhibition victory over La Sierra.

LA MIRADA---The Biola women's basketball team began the season with an exciting 68-57 exhibition victory over La Sierra.

Eleven different Eagles were able to get time on the court. Jessa Thurman, Alyssa Kubo and Laila Walker had notable offensive performances, recording double-digit points against the Golden Eagles. Thurman led her team with 16 points, Kubo had 13 and Walker scored 12.

Biola took the lead midway through the first quarter and would hold the advantage for the remainder of the game. The Eagles executed their best offense in the second quarter where they out-scored La Sierra 25-12. Thurman and Sammie Henley led BU's offensive effort with five points each in the second frame.

Camden Miller led Biola on the boards, collecting five. Four Eagles had four rebounds including Kubo, Walker, Henley and Kaylen Kamelamela. 

Walker showcased her defensive strength, leading her team with three steals. Kamelamela also stood out with two.

The game's results and statistics will not count toward the Eagles' overall record but it was a great start for Biola as they get ready for their first countable game on Friday, November 8th against Saint Martin's.
