Eagles Rapp Up A Late Night Victory

Nolan Rapp nets four goals and seven other Eagles score to take down the Sunbirds in 15-9 victory on the road.

Fresno, Calif. --- The Biola Eagles (7-19) competed in a high-scoring match against the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (3-14) at Sunnyside Aquatics Center. Senior, Nolan Rapp led the Eagles to their Friday night victory as he scored three consecutive goals and tallied on a fourth in the final frame.

John Grasso and Kyle Seifen found the back of the net just 27 seconds apart from each other in the second minute of the game. The Sunbirds quickly erased Biola's early lead with a pair of goals themselves, leading to a tie game going into the second quarter.

The Eagles heated up in the second quarter where five different Eagles tacked on a goal to Biola's name. The Sunbirds worked in Biola's favor as Seifen fired one in on a penalty shot and Caleb Hernandez and Kevin Slack each scored on power plays. Rapp closed out the first half with back-to-back unanswered goals, giving Biola an 8-4 lead after two.

While Rapp shut down the first half, he kept his momentum going through halftime and opened up the third frame with a goal in the first minute to extend BU's lead. The two defenses' really shined in the next five minutes as neither team was able to find the back of the net. With just over two minutes to go, Will Tibbetts tacked on another goal. FPU added on two late goals in the third quarter, but Biola still led 10-6.

In the fourth quarter, the Eagles took any insurance they could get. Adam Lavoy logged two while Rapp topped his hat trick with a fourth goal. Grasso and Hernandez also picked up their second goals of the day.

Mitchell Carpenter's 10 saves on the night helped keep the Sunbirds from catching up, giving the Eagles their seventh victory of the season.

The Biola Eagles will be back in the pool tomorrow, Nov. 2nd where they will take on UC Merced at 1 p.m.
