Eagles Prevail in San Rafael

The men’s soccer team came back from behind to defeat Dominican University 2-1 at Kennelly Field.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif.---The Biola men's soccer team came back from behind to defeat Dominican University 2-1 at Kennelly Field.

Dominican took an early lead but the Eagles would maintain their composure and answer back strong. 

Pedro Ashley, with the help of Luca McGreevey Couchman, scored Biola's equalizer in the 35th minute.

And three minutes later, Caleb Castaño netted BU's go-ahead goal. Tomislav Jozinovic assisted Castaño's goal that put Biola up 2-1.

The Eagles defended their lead through the remainder of the first half and would hold that determination throughout the second.

Gijs van Schouten, the Eagles' goalkeeper, made five crucial saves against Dominican. Two of the five were saved in the second half. Biola's defensive line, led by van Schouten consisted of Jozinovic, Adrian Acevedo, and Joseph Davis who all played the full 90 minutes against the Penguins.

The Eagles return home on a two-match winning streak, 5-5-1 overall and 3-1 in the PacWest Conference. Next up for Biola is Azusa Pacific on Wednesday, October 16th at 7 p.m. at Al Barbour Field.
