Just Keep Swimming

The Eagles thrived across the board on Wednesday in a Tri-Meet hosted by Pomona-Pitzer.

CLAREMONT, Calif. --- Wednesday's Tri-Meet between Biola, Pomona-Pitzer, and Colorado College saw good competition all-around. The Eagles wore four event crowns by days end and succeeded in a variety of events. 

Biola dominated the 200 back on both sides, thanks to stand out performances from Ryan Monrean and Allison Yancey. The duo swept the event crowns with Monrean finishing in 1:59.68 and Yancey at 2:10.87. Jackson Black added to the men's score with a fourth place showing in the same event, while Coco Friedley did the same for the women.

In the shorter 100 back, Alejandro Marchesini adorned the silver medal with a time of 52.71. Angelina Ahmadi-Kashani delivered in fourth on the women's side at 1:03.13.

Noah Hall brought it again in the distance events, turning in a pair of silver finishes. The longest race of the day featured a nail-biting end, as Hall came within .25 seconds of the top finisher. Hall claimed second in the 1000 free with a time of 9:51.98 and followed it with a second place showing in the 500 free at 4:50.91. 

The women's long distance swimmers grabbed two more podium placements between the 1000 and 500 free races. Tessa Halleen claimed third in the 1000 free, touching at 11:07.93, while Chloe Colvard also nabbed bronze in the 500 free at 5:25.75.

The Eagles cashed in another event win in the 100 breaststroke behind the effort of Meghan Tolman. The Manteca, California native pushed ahead of the pack for first place with a time of 1:07.28. Tolman was the fastest in both 50 yard splits of the race.

Biola relays picked up a trio of bronze placements on Wednesday. Both A-teams earned third place showings in the 200 medley relay to start the afternoon. In the final event, the BU women grabbed third once again with a time of 1:41.00 in the 200 free relay.

Lorelai Carney picked up an event crown on the 3M board. The junior claimed first with a score of 241.00 in the 3M dive, after grabbing second at 253.80 in the 1M. On the men's side, Caleb Pook posted back-to-back third place efforts with scores of 279.30 and 272.95 in the 1M and 3M dives, respectively.

Caleb Hernandez was flying in the 50 free, tallying a time of 22.07. The mark was good for second place in the event.

Sean Rho and Morgan Kampfer showed their prowess in the butterfly with third place finishes for each swimmer. Kampfer took bronze in the 100 fly at 1:00.10, while Rho did the same in the 200 fly at 1:56.95.

The 200 individual medley saw Coco Friedley score a podium finish in third place with a time of 2:14.33.

"I thought this meet served as a great final push to conclude our Winter Training segment of the 23-24 season," said Head Coach Nate Harding. "I'm looking forward to sending our seniors off for their last home meet at Lansing pool in a little over a week!"


Biola Aquatics will be back home for its next meet, hosting The Master's on Saturday, January 20.
